There are a number of clubs and organizations at Tahanto with a global component. Listed below are just a few of the opportunities on offer, and contact information for each program coordinator.
The Global Citizenship Club
For more information, please follow the "Global Citizenship" link at the top of the page, or click here.
Model United Nations
Model United Nations is a club that simulates issues tackled by the United Nations. Students research an assigned topic and a nation and negotiate from their country’s perspective with students from schools throughout New England. The goal of the UN is to make a better global community, and the Model UN gives our students practical experience in world events from multiple global perspectives. Finally, MUN allows for students to develop important skills, such as research, public speaking, and writing.
Amnesty International
Amnesty International works to promote and protect the rights enshrined in the United Nations Declaration of Human Rights. More than 180 countries have signed on to this document, agreeing to uphold these rights in their own countries. However, we know that many of these countries continue to disregard human rights! Globally AI works to hold governments, non-governmental actors, & corporations accountable!
Here at Tahanto, we will explore these human rights issues, conduct letter-writing campaigns, hold fundraisers to support AI's mission, and raise awareness among Tahanto students about international human rights.
H.O.P.E. Club
HOPE club is a middle school anti-bullying /community service group. Our philosophy is to “help not hurt”. Currently we have about 25 members - new membership is always welcome. We meet every Day 3 during lunch in the library cafe.
